BE THE STAR YOU ARE®! is a library of books and other media donated to youth at risk to raise their skills and self esteem to improve their daily lives. This media ranges from education and advisement to inspiration and guidance which covers every aspect of life from abuse through money management. BE THE STAR YOU ARE®! has no religious or political agendas or affiliations as it caters to the literate and illiterate by providing audio tapes and videos as well as books to give these kids a head start in their lives so they can beat the odds.

Mega thanks to event chairperson, Vivien Lee who orchestrated with a smile the volunteers and activities for the September Teen Car Wash as well as Pear and Wine Festival. A Message from our Founder, Cynthia Brian
Express Yourself!™ for TEENS
Besides increasing literacy, a core mission of Be the Star You Are!® since inception has been to produce, provide, and promote positive message programming as a method of empowerment. Our radio show,Starstyle®-Be the Star You Are!™ hosted by Heather Brittany and me has been broadcasting live weekly since 1998 showcasing authors and books that inspire and enhance daily living. We are especially proud that the program reaches 132 countries around the world and over 3.5 million listeners.
Next month, a new era in programming begins. Be the Star You Are!® will launch a brand new hour long program for, by, and with teens. During the summer, we launched the new web site for teens at www.BTSYA.com to express, upload, and publish their creativity. Voice America Radio Network asked me to take the teen scene to a new level by creating a global program. For the past two months, producing with Starstyle® Productions, llc, I have been working with seven young people to bring Express Yourself!™ to the Voice America Kids Radio Network.
Our two teen hosts are Steven Zhou from the San Francisco area and Chan Dara Paschall from Los Angeles. We have five field reporters from five different areas, Courtney Cheng, Vivien Lee, Rachel Glass, Eric Pawlakos, and Jacqueline Tao , checking in on a variety of topics and trends that are important to the youth generation.
My goal is to help teens think outside the box and speak with confidence on the airwaves while having fun and gaining real world skills. SNEAK PEAK. I am so proud of their success.
Express Yourself! is an entertaining radio program where passion, productivity, and possibility populate the airwaves. Come play in our country where teens talk and the world listens.

TEENS TALK. WORLD LISTENS
Steven Zhou is currently a senior in High School where he is a swim coach and student leader. Steven is an accomplished musician who wrote and produced the theme music for the program, along with another volunteer, Courtney Tran. He excels in administration and organization and will use this hosting experience as a spring-board to real world projects.
Chan Dara is a 16 year old college student from Los Angeles studying journalism and psychology. She has a passion for fashion, music, and activism with a mission to help others. Chan Dara will offer features on fashion as well as tackle the tough topics that face teens from bullying to body image.
The program wants to give young people around the globe a voice for communication, collaboration, and connection.

JOPLIN'S JOY
By the end of October, the volunteers of Be the Star You Are!® charity had shipped $59,000 in books to Joplin, Missouri to help the schools and hospitals that were destroyed by tornadoes last spring. Many thank you notes have recently arrived from both students and staff. READ
