Making a Difference

Hope you all are well! Don't forget: there'll be a Be the Star You Are! for Teens event November 21, at GBop Fashion in Danville, CA!

Happy Halloween to all! Hopefully, everyone's evening was fun and safe. :)

Our new book, Be the Star You Are! for Teens, has been released for over a month already. The book-launch party was a great success. Cynthia and the contributors are now trying to promote the book, now available in stores (Barnes and Noble in Walnut Creek carries it) and libraries. Please check your local book stores and ask them to carry it!

As of now, Cynthia and the Bay Area teen contributors will be attending two book signing events:

Saturday, November 21, 1-4pm

Wednesday, December 2, 7-9pm

At the two events, the contributors will be signing autographs, taking pictures, and talking about their writing and experiences.

Be the Star You Are! Charity's newest book: Be the Star You Are! for Teens releases in two days on September 9, 2009! (09/09/09)

Please go check it out! It is truly a great book.

15 days (-2) = 13!

...and you know what that means! We have exactly 15 more days until the big event: The Books and Bands Bash on Sepetmber 13th! These last few weeks have been filled with a lot of emailing, planning, and hard work, so we hope you all come out to join us!

A couple updates and accomplisments:

We are a new partnership as of today with the Moraga Education Foundation which helps support local schools. For all new ticket sales beginning on Monday, buyers can write MEF on their check or paypal purchase and 5% of the ticket price will be given to MEF.

Be the Star You Are! Charity appears in both Lamorinda Weekly and Diablo Magazine print and online editions this week. Also in Lamorinda Weekly is a story about our teen contributors [for Be the Star You Are! for Teens; out 09/09/09].

Busy Last Few Weeks

The Books and Bands Bash is coming quickly! There were many updates and plans from last meeting on the 5th.



First:

The website for our upcoming book (to be released on 09/09/09) is UP and LIVE! http://www.bethestaryouare.com/ Please check it out and, of course, order it. It's by Cynthia Brian with 38 contributers, including local teens. All proceeds will benefit Be the Star You Are! Charity.



Second:

We have a new, up-to-date flyer for our upcoming event!

"Be the Star You Are!®, a local literacy charity, is celebrating its 10th anniversary with the launch
of a new book, Be the Star You Are!® for TEENS and a dance party, all organized by local teens.

Party features include dancing to bands: Old Hyde Farm, Uncalled 4, The Underground Weather, The Not So Radicals, and 13 book contributors autographing the new book!

Date/Time: Sunday, September 13, 2009 4:00- 9:00pm
Price: $13 in advance, $20 at the door for standing/dancing, Reserved VIP Tables for 10 $713
or individual seating $113 per person
Place: Holy Trinity Cultural Center, 1700 School Street, Moraga, Ca. 94556

Bring your wallet to participate in the raffles and silent auction, buy specialty gift items from vendors,
